Symptoms of Diabetic Foot
One of the complications of diabetes is diabetic foot. As a result of poor blood flow, people with diabetes experience numbness in their feet over time. The main reason for this is due to nerve damage. One can have nerve damage in any part of the body, But nerves in your legs and feet are the most affected areas.
The signs and symptoms of diabetic foot are
· Numbness
· Pain
· Tingling
· Loss of sense
· Redness
· Skin discolouration
· Swelling
Some of the severe symptoms of the diabetic foot that turn into diabetic foot ulcers are:
· Changes in skin or toenails
· Fluid or pus discharge
· Foul smell
There are several symptoms that contribute to it, including frequent infections, low healing power, and weak immunity. Even small cuts and bruises can turn into serious complications. Diabetic feet are more likely to develop sores, deformities, and infections. Other complications for people with peripheral neuropathy are a loss of balance and coordination, and muscle weakness in the feet.
Diagnosis for Diabetic Foot
At Absolute Foot Care we will examine your skin, eyes, nails, and feet. We may also run tests that show if you have nerve damage or not. Treatment usually starts with foot care at home or at our Brewood clinic to reduce infection risk. We will then move on to medications or surgery if needed.
